Why we started Happy News of the Day
We're not a feel-good site. We're a what-works newsroom.
Some days, opening the news hurts. War, disaster, outrage. More and more people have simply stopped reading. Not because they don’t care about the world, but because the world they’re being shown feels incomplete.
It is. Every day, somewhere, scientists take a step against a disease. A community gets its river back. Someone risks their life for a stranger. A strike ends in a deal that makes thousands of lives better. Those stories are real, and they almost never make the front page.
Happy News of the Day exists to tell them. With the same rigour as any other news: sources, data and verification. We won’t sugar-coat reality or sell miracles. If a story can’t be checked, we don’t run it. Every piece carries a verification seal and an impact number, because good news should have to prove itself too.
We want to be a newsroom by people, for people. A place to stay informed without a knot in your stomach, and a place to think: what’s working, why, and how could it work somewhere else? We believe example changes the world.
We’re free and independent. No corporate owner, no media conglomerate. We answer to our readers.
Thank you for being here from the very start. We’ve only just been born, but we want to grow a little every day, thanks to you, so that the good news in this world stops being the minority and becomes the overwhelming majority.
We’re counting on you. The world needs us.
