At 99, Helga becomes the world's oldest female wing-walker

At 99, Helga Duffy climbed onto the wing of a biplane and flew over the Gloucestershire countryside. When she landed, Guinness World Records recognised her as the oldest woman in the world to perform a wing walk. The record was verified on 16 October in Cirencester.

Her niece’s idea

It was her niece who encouraged her to give it a go. Helga flew with AeroSuperBatics, specialists in wing-walking, strapped to a frame on top of the upper wing.

As well as the record, the flight raised more than £1,600 for the air ambulance service.

Why it matters

Because it’s never too late to chase a dream, and Helga turned hers into help for others.
